Ivybridge man tackles longest cycle route in the world

An Ivybridge man is embarking on the challenge of a lifetime as he tackles the longest cycle route in the world.

For the last nine months Graham Wilson has been training for the epic adventure, which will see him get on his bike and ride 6,000km along the North Sea Cycle Route.

The aim of the mammoth trek is to raise money for the Devon Wildlife Trust and will see Graham ride through seven countries around the North Sea including Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands.

"I am fundraising for the Devon Wildlife Trust because I believe that protection of wildlife is most deserving in the current climate for safeguarding our planet," he said.

The cycle route will take 70 days to complete and it is hoped £10,000 can be raised by the local man's fundraising efforts.

He will be setting off on his Continental journey on Saturday and the wildlife trust hope he will be the first of a long line of adventurers raising money for the organisation.

"Graham has done a fantastic job and has already raised thousands of pounds as part of this challenge and we hope even more people will support him as he embarks," said Cat Loudwill, corporate and community relations offer for the wildlife trust.

"This is the biggest challenge anyone has ever done for us."
